Rep. Issa celebrates anniversary of SOPA blackout

{mosads}Internet activists are calling the occasion “Internet Freedom Day.” It marks one year since multiple websites — including Google, Reddit and Wikipedia — blacked out some or all of their online presence for one day to protest the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), ultimately successfully shelving both items of anti-piracy legislation. Issa, who opposed that legislation, said supporters of Internet freedom still have work to do to ensure it.

The hashtag #InternetFreedomDay isn’t trending yet, but use is steadily climbing on Twitter as of Friday morning.
