Twitter: 90 percent of House members now tweeting

{mosads}Twitter confirmed in a blog post Friday that 100 percent of the Senate is now on Twitter and 90 percent of the House has an active Twitter presence.

That is a huge jump in Twitter use by the 113th Congress compared to the start of the 112th in 2011, when Twitter recorded 44 percent of the Senate on Twitter and just 35 percent of the House.

At least 70 percent of the delegation of every state in the union is now tweeting, according to a map Twitter also released in the post.

Twitter has also set up lists of members of Congress, separated by chamber, that any user can follow to stay up to date in real-time with lawmaker tweets.

Twitter’s count of members of Congress using Twitter likely factors
campaign, official and personal accounts. Not all senators have a
Twitter account officially linked to their work in the Senate, and the
same is true of many members of the House.
