Rep. King didn’t know that ‘guy beside Beyonce’ was Jay-Z
The House Homeland Security chairman admitted as much in a tweet on Tuesday.
Anybody who looked important I took a picture of at inauguration. I didn’t know who the guy beside @beyonce was: flickr.com/photos/3892107…
— Rep. Pete King (@RepPeteKing) January 22, 2013
The New York Post cover for Tuesday features King, in profile, snapping a shot of Beyonce and Jay-Z as they exit the Capitol to be seated on the platform ahead of President Obama’s inaugural ceremony on Monday. Beyonce sang the national anthem to close the event and was accompanied by her husband of four years, rapper Jay-Z.
“I knew the name but I didn’t realize that was him,” King later told New York Magazine. “I just know Beyoncé from seeing her picture in the papers. I don’t know rap. I stopped listening to music after Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.”
He added that Beyonce is “a beautiful woman.”
