Obama meets with Redskins quarterback

President Obama’s sporting weekend continued on Sunday, as popular Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III – or “RGIII” as he’s called – tweeted out a picture of himself meeting the commander-in-chief.

{mosads}Griffin didn’t say where he chatted with the president, but the first family attended church at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. earlier in the day.

On Saturday, Obama got in his first round of golf since the sequester fight in Congress, and followed that up by attending the Syracuse versus Marquette NCAA tournament Elite Eight basketball game at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Obama has talked before about being a big fan of RGIII’s.

Last October, he and 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney taped messages before a Redskins Sunday night game lauding the quarterback, who electrified the NFL in his rookie season.

“It’s tough to unite this city around anything, believe me, I know,” Obama said. “But RGIII makes it look easy.”

In January, Griffin says he challenged President Obama to a one-on-one basketball game but the president declined.

“He said he wouldn’t play me but I could play on his team,” Griffin said.
