Lawmakers tweet their August recess work

Lawmakers have taken to Twitter to show the work they are doing in their districts over the August recess, tweeting their meetings with constituents, their travels abroad and even including pictures.

The surge of social media coincides with a new poll from Fox News on Wednesday that showed 82 percent of registered voters think Congress hasn’t done enough to “deserve” taking August off.

Not all the tweets, however, were necessarily work-related: Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) tweeted a video of him playing catch with Minnesota Vikings player Matt Cassel; Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) bought a cow at the Yuma County Junior Livestock Sale; and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) showed off his shooting skills at a visit with Ottawa, Ill., police officers.

{mosads}Members of Congress left Washington on Friday for a five-week break that consists of work time in their districts and vacation. They’ll be back Sept. 9 with a heavy to-do list that includes immigration reform and passing the federal budget.

Here’s some of the things lawmakers are tweeting:
