White House press staff floods Twitter with new accounts
{mosads}His arrival on Twitter came less than a day after White House spokesman Bobby Whithorne joined Twitter, and less than two weeks after deputy press secretary Eric Schultz took the plunge.
welcome Bobby! RT @Bobby44: Hey @brundage44 I’m finally on twitter. Can I get a RT from the Vineyard?

New Media mass comms has its risks, to be sure. Welcome! RT @Schultz44: Hey @PressSec, finally got on twitter. #whatcouldpossiblygowrong?

The new additions to the social media network also earned some groaning from former Obama speechwriters Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett, who complained that the president’s senior adviser and communications director, Dan Pfeiffer, hadn’t allowed them onto the social media network during their time at the White House.
.@jonlovett @lehrich44 I’m sort of offended that @pfeiffer44 waited until after we left the WH to let everyone have Twitter accounts.
— Jon Favreau (@jonfavs) August 13, 2013
@JohnJHarwood @jonfavs @jonlovett @Lehrich44 is there anything that you guys have done on twitter that suggests I was wrong?
— Dan Pfeiffer (@pfeiffer44) August 13, 2013
Whithorne later acknowledged the movement in a tweet, joking that lower press — the tight West Wing quarters occupied by the communications staff — “just entered [the] 21st century.”
“No we just need some windows,” he added.
