The quick expiration of the “Cash for Clunkers” program should make President Obama rethink his commitment to a public option in the healthcare debate, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) tweeted Saturday.
The government announced Thursday that the auto rebate program would be suspended Monday after the $3 billion allotted for the program had been quickly spent.
Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee who’s been a lead Republican negotiator on crafting a healthcare reform bill, tweeted:
