Grassley: ‘Clunkers’ experience should make Obama rethink public option
The quick expiration of the “Cash for Clunkers” program should make President Obama rethink his commitment to a public option in the healthcare debate, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) tweeted Saturday.
The government announced Thursday that the auto rebate program would be suspended Monday after the $3 billion allotted for the program had been quickly spent.
Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee who’s been a lead Republican negotiator on crafting a healthcare reform bill, tweeted:
Sure happy I voted agst car/clunker bill now that Obama is suspending bill bc it is not administrable. He ought to rethink govt run health
