Appointments
• The president will nominate Nancy Lindborg to serve as assistant administrator of the Democracy Conflict and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau at the United States Agency for International Development. Lindborg, a graduate of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, is president of the global relief organization Mercy Corps.
• Kevin Nealer will be the president’s nominee to serve as a member of the board of directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corp. Nealer is a principal and partner in The Scowcroft Group. Nealer previously worked on international economic issues as a staffer for the Senate Democratic Policy Committee. He has also been a foreign service officer with the State Department.
{mosads}• President Obama intends to nominate Chase T. Rogers and Wilfredo Martinez to be members of the State Justice Institute. Rogers has served as chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court since 2007. Before becoming a judge, she was a partner at Cumming & Lockwood in Stamford, Conn. Martinez has served as a county court judge in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida since 1998.
• The president this week nominated the following individuals to serve as U.S. marshals: Jeffrey Holt, Steven Clayton Stafford and Paul C. Thielen. Holt is the sheriff of Dyer County, Tenn., and a former criminal investigator for the district attorney’s office of the 29th judicial district of Tennessee. Stafford is chief deputy U.S. marshal for the Southern District of California and has worked in law enforcement since 1980. Thielen is senior criminal investigator deputy U.S. marshal with the U.S. Marshals Service in the district of South Dakota.
• The president has announced his intent to appoint Warren Michael Stern as director of the domestic nuclear detection office at the Department of Homeland Security. Stern is a senior adviser in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation. Stern previously worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency on response plans for nuclear and radiation emergencies.
