Appointments

• President Obama has nominated Felicia C. Adams to serve as a U.S. attorney. Adams currently serves as assistant United States attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi, where she has worked since 2000. Prior to that, she was an assistant United States attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi, and also served as legal counsel to the Mississippi governor’s office. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Odell Horton of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. She graduated from Jackson State University, and received her law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

• The president has appointed N. Gunter Guy Jr. as the Alabama state representative of the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force. Guy is the commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, where he advises the governor and State Legislature on various issues involving natural resources. He previously was a city attorney for Montgomery, Ala. The task force, chaired by Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson, was created by executive order to coordinate efforts to restore the Gulf Coast region following the oil spill. It includes representatives from five Gulf states, each recommended by the state’s respective governor. Guy’s appointment fills the last state-representative seat on the panel.

• President Obama intends to nominate the Honorable David Brewer as a member of the board of directors of the State Justice Institute. Brewer currently serves as the chief judge of the Oregon Court of Appeals. He was elected to the court in 1999, and served as chief judge since 2004. Before joining that court, he was a state court trial judge and a partner at the law firm Lombard, Gardner, Honsowetz & Brewer. In 2008, he received the National Center for State Courts’s Distinguished Service Award. He earned a B.A. in economics from California State University at Sonoma and a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.
