Under contract

• The Air Force awarded United Launch Services LLC a maximum $575
million contract on May 6 to provide launch services. The evolved
expendable launch vehicle services, which will be conducted in
Littleton, Colo., will support the Air Force in a number of missions.
The company has been obligated approximately half of the maximum funding
so far.

{mosads}• Navistar Defense LLC will fill a $183 million fixed-price delivery order of ambulance vehicles for the Navy within the scope of a previously awarded contract. The 250 MaxxPro Dash ambulance vehicles are intended to support “mobile and survivable ambulatory care for injured servicemen in theater.” The work will be completed in West Point, Miss., and should be finished by the end of September.

• Bechtel National Inc., Parsons Global Services Inc., Raytheon Technical Services Co. and URS Federal Services International each won contracts with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency on April 27 for a combined total of no more than $950 million. The contracts, which set a five-year ordering period and optional one-year renewal, require the companies to provide “integration services” overseas for the agency’s cooperative threat reduction program. The contracted work’s expected completion date would be in April 2020 or April 2021, if the optional year is exercised.

• The Department of Energy signed a $77 million contract modification with Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corp. on April 21 for work related to naval reactors. The modification requires Bechtel to “develop naval nuclear propulsion technology and provide technical support to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation’s submarine and aircraft carrier fleets” at the Bettis atomic and Knolls atomic power laboratories. Bechtel’s service to the two government-owned labs, which operate as research and development facilities, is set to end Sept. 30, 2013.

• The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation on April 18 signed a $25 million contract with Andritz Hydro Corp. for water and related resources work. The contract, which will be completed by May 1, 2016, requires Andritz to rehabilitate all four Palisades Dam turbines in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The company will upgrade turbines and turbine generator units for the overhaul of the pressurized water reactor, enough to bring electricity to an additional 35,000 homes. The dam provides irrigation, flood control and hydropower to the region.

• JWT Specialized Communications on April 18 received an approximately $12.5 million contract with the Healthcare Retention and Recruitment Office at the Department of Veterans Affairs for a television commercial recruiting health professionals. The Los Angeles business will create a commercial by April 17, 2015, that aims to bring physicians, pharmacists and nurses to the department. The second year of the campaign will also include online media and public service announcements publicized through broadcast and cable outlets, including Spanish-language channels.
