Under Contract

• Jacobs Technology Inc. received a $14 million contract funding modification May 10 from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Jacobs Technology will provide engineering services for various projects that occur at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The “engineering science contract” ends Jan. 31, 2013. 

• The Federal Aviation Agency obligated almost $46 million for a contract modification to Lockheed Martin Corp. on May 10 to develop software for En Route Automation Modernization. ERAM “processes flight radar data, provides communications and generates display data to air traffic controllers,” and has been installed at 20 sites thus far. The contract for the project that will have capacity to track an additional 800 planes at a time and is expected to be completed Sept. 30, 2015.

{mosads}• The Air Force signed an approximately $428 million contract modification with Northrop Grumman Space and Mission Systems on May 24 to work on a weather and climate monitoring satellite. Northrop Grumman is contracted to support the National Polar Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System’s shift from a joint satellite program to separate ones for the Defense Department, National Aeronautics and Space Association and Commerce Department. 

• Oshkosh Corp. won a ceiling price $111.5 million contract on May 24 for “combat assault and tactical vehicles wheeled” from the Navy. Oshkosh will supply Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicles and underbody improvement kits to sustain Operation Enduring Freedom. 

• The Defense Logistics Agency on May 20 exercised a second option year on a contract with Produce Source Partners. The Defense Department said the small business will provide “fresh fruit and vegetable support” for up to the allotted amount of $8.1 million. This service will be provided to the Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

• General Dynamic’s Canadian Commercial Corp. was awarded about $42 million by the Marine Corps on May 20 to bundle engineering change proposals or upgrades for combat vehicles. Some of the upgrades include blast-attenuating flooring and energy-absorbing seats. The expected completion date is May 31, 2012.
