Appointments
•The president has submitted Mary Beth Leonard’s nomination to be the ambassador to the Republic of Mali. Leonard currently works for the State Department as director of the Office of West African Affairs. She is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, and has also worked as deputy chief of mission to Mali and Suriname.
{mosads}• President Obama has nominated Meg Bartley to be a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Bartely works for the National Veterans Legal Services Program as senior staff attorney and also for the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program as the director of outreach and education. She also works for The Veterans Advocate as editor. She has represented cases in the veteran claims appeals court and the Board of Veterans’ Appeals for more than 15 years.
• The president nominated Gloria Wilson Shelton to be a judge in the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Shelton currently serves as a Veterans Affairs Department staff attorney. She also has experience in the Maryland attorney general’s office, where she was a bureau chief for three years. Before that, Shelton was the principal counsel for the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland Courts and Judicial Affairs Division.
• President Obama appointed Christopher Che to be on the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Che is president and chief executive at Hooven-Dayton Corp. and also serves as the president and chief executive officer of Hooven-Dayton’s owning company, Che International Group. Before that, he worked as the chief financial officer for Government Acquisitions Inc. and Corbus LLC.
