Ex-House Dem Maffei joins lobby firm

Former Rep. Dan Maffei (D-N.Y.) has joined a law and lobby firm.

Maffei has joined the government and regulatory policy division of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips as a senior adviser. The former lawmaker will work out of the firm’s Washington, New York City and Albany, N.Y., offices.

That type of strategic counsel is invaluable to our clients,” said George David Kieffer, chairman of the firm’s government and regulatory policy division, in a statement.

Maffei served one term in the last Congress before losing his reelection bid to Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (R-N.Y.). 

Maffei was a Capitol Hill aide before that, as a member of the Democratic staff for the House Ways and Means Committee, as well as an aide to former Sen. Bill Bradley (D-N.J.) and the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.).
