Andrew Forbes, once an aide to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Barry Rhoads, former deputy general counsel to the Defense Department’s 1991 Base Realignment and Closure Commission, are lobbying for the coalition.
EDUCATION. Alpine Group Inc. has been hired by Arnold & Porter on behalf of Texas Tech University to lobby on “higher education funding and research,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Barry Brown, former chief of staff to Reps. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) and Kay Granger (R-Texas), is lobbying for the company.
{mosads}ENVIRONMENT. Peck, Madigan, Jones & Stewart has been hired by the Environmental Defense Action Fund to lobby on “general background on environmental issues. Issues related to the budget and sequestration,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Peter Madigan, former chief of staff for ex-U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick, and Jeff Peck, once staff director for the Senate Judiciary Committee, are lobbying for the group.
HEALTHCARE. Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough has been hired by Truven Health Analytics, an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company, to provide “healthcare data and analyses on matters under consideration by Congress,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Jennifer Pharaoh, former deputy chief of staff to Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.), is lobbying for the company.
TRADE. Capitol Hill Consulting Group has been hired by Columbia Forest Products, based in Greensboro, N.C., to lobby on “Anti-dumping/Countervailing Duty Case on hardwood/plywood,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Josh Kardon, former chief of staff to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), is lobbying for the company.
Sorini, Samet, & Associates has been hired by the Garment Business Association of the Philippines to lobby on the “SAVE Our Industries Act (H.R. 2387/ S. 1244),” according to lobbying disclosure records. Ron Sorini, a former ambassador and chief textile negotiator at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and Andrew Samet, once legislative director to the late Sen. Daniel Moynihan (D-N.Y.), are lobbying for the trade group.
