Under Contract

The U.S. Agency for International Development awarded a $16.3 million contract to Cardno Emerging Markets USA to work in a partnership with the United States and the Swedish Embassy. The work is aimed at increasing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) trade and exports of food products, thereby “increasing economic growth and advancing BiH’s accession into the European Union.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded contracts totaling up to roughly $87.39 million for millions of flu shots to be distributed to state health departments, large city programs and U.S. territories in 2016. Sanofi Pasteur won the contract for influenza vaccines for adults, which is not to exceed a cost of $83.77 million; Novartis was awarded the contract for the pediatric version. Since the most recent flu season began in September, the CDC has distributed a total of 145 million doses of the flu vaccine, according to its website.

Lenco Industries, the largest manufacturer of armored vehicles in the country, won a $1.06 million contract from the State Department to provide it with three of its Lenco BearCat vehicles, already in use by the department. Each vehicle carries up to 10 people and is designed to provide protection from small arms fire, explosives and roadside bombs. The vehicle’s features include a gunner’s seat and 7-inch vertical gun port, an intercom system and a thermal image and color camera. The State Department needs these vehicles “to improve security for movement of personnel in Erbil, Iraq,” according to contract documents.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) awarded a five-year contract worth $6.9 million to law firm Duane Morris to “provide legal and related consulting services to immediately continue to support the work of FHFA as Conservator in connection with on-going litigation involving Fannie Mae, the Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBs), and litigation involving Freddie Mac,” according to contract documents. The firm has already been doing similar work for the agency for several years.

The U.S. Army procured $81.63 million in “practice bombs and fixtures” from Delfasco, a certified small business in Tennessee, as part of the foreign military sales program. According to the Department of Defense website, the items will be going to Saudi Arabia.
