• Christopher A. Cole has joined Crowell & Moring as a partner in the Advertising and Product Risk Management Group. Before that, he worked as the advertising litigation practice chairman at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. Cole “regularly handles the defense of class action litigation as it relates to false advertising and defends clients in federal enforcement proceedings before the Federal Trade Commission, state attorneys general and other regulatory bodies.”
• Rebecca Mark will join Microsoft’s Washington, D.C., office as its manager of government affairs on Jan. 7. Before that, she served as the media contact for technology and public policy issues at the Glen Echo Group. She also worked as an adviser to Reps. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Candice Miller (R-Mich.). During the 2010 election cycle, she served as an online communications adviser to the Republican National Committee.
{mosads}• Heather White will serve as the executive director of the Environmental Working Group. She has been working as the organization’s chief of staff and general counsel. Before that, she was the director of education advocacy for the National Wildlife Federation and has also worked as counsel to former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) on energy and environmental issues.
• Former Rep. Tom Ridge (R-Pa.) has joined the advisory board at the malware detection expert firm
TaaSERA. Ridge, a former director of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), will help the Delaware-based startup develop “attack behavior discovery” with techniques currently used by the DHS and law enforcement officials.
• Bob Emmett, Krister Holladay and Rick Pyatt have joined United Technologies Corp. from Goodrich Corp. following its acquisition of the company. They will all serve on United Technologies Corp.’s aerospace and defense government affairs team. Before working at Goodrich, Emmett was on the staff of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Holladay worked for Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) and Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.). Pyatt served as a legislative liaison for the Air Force in the weapons acquisition and procurement division.
