Under Contract

• The Secret Service awarded the company Showcall with a contract worth more than $3.6 million for perimeter security at the presidential inauguration. The contract specifically requires more than 69,000 feet of fencing, concrete barriers, eight-foot barbed wire, anti-climb fencing and other security barriers. The contract also calls for more than 64,000 feet of bike racks.

“The contractor must possess the resource flexibility to satisfactory respond [sic] to unforeseen Secret Service on-site requests as they arise,” the solicitation document states. 

{mosads}Showcall has staged a number of major political events in Washington. Its website boasts of event production for the 2010 Nuclear Security Summit and the 2008 G-20 Summit, both held in Washington. The company also provided the “technical elements” at the Republican National Convention election headquarters in 2004, staged George W. Bush’s “2004 election victory tour” and provided the lighting, audio and video for a 2005 inaugural concert for President Bush. 

• The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a $59,300 contract to CFI Medical Solutions for a “zero gravity system.” The contract includes equipment needed for the unit and protective gear.

• The Department of Defense will spend nearly 

$7 million for a charter ferry to carry Marines and cargo around the world. Austal Hull 130 Chartering in Alabama received the contract, which lasts until August. According to the department, the vessel will support the Marine Corps, Third Marine Expeditionary Force, and will operate out of Okinawa, Japan. 

• The U.S. Special Operations Command is contracting with En Pointe Gov to provide Microsoft software licenses and support. The contract, worth more than $66 million, lasts until the end of 2015.

•The Defense Logistics Agency awarded Shamrock Foods of Commerce City, Colo., with an $11.8 million contract for providing food to the Army and Air Force bases in Colorado and Wyoming. The contract lasts for one year, and will expire on Jan. 11, 2014.
