•AGRIBUSINESS. Monsanto has hired Troutman Sanders Public Affairs Group to lobby on “farm and conservation policy related to biotechnology,” according to Senate lobbying records.
•AUTOMOBILES. The Coalition for Auto Repair Equality, a group of independent auto repair companies, has hired Fowler Communications to help push a bill to require “auto manufacturers to disclose information to independent repair shops necessary to repair both foreign and domestic automobiles,” according to lobbying records.
{mosads}•INDIAN AFFAIRS. Hard Count Inc., a Texas-based grassroots advocacy group, has hired Barbour Griffith & Rogers to lobby for the “recognition and designation of Juaneo Band of Mission Indians under the Bureau of Indian Affairs,” lobbying records show. Eric Burgeson, a former chief of staff at the Energy Department, is among a group of four Barbour lobbyists who are lobbying the issues.
•MANUFACTURING. Heather Podesta & Partners is lobbying for United States Steel Corp., a steel manufacturer. Eric Rosen, a former counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, has joined Heather Podesta and Laura Joshua at the firm.
•LOCAL. Van Scoyoc Associates is lobbying on behalf of the city of Seattle on transportation and water infrastructure development.
•TAXES. Monument Policy Group is lobbying on behalf of Weyerhauser, the lumber company. Timothy Punke, former chief international trade counsel on the Senate Finance Committee, is one of four lobbyists at the firm who are lobbying on U.S.-Canada lumber issues.
•TECHNOLOGY. Broydick & Associates is lobbying for the Consumer Electronics Association. The firm was hired to prevent “forward movement on e-waste legislation,” according to the lobbying registration. Expedia has hired Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti to lobby on its behalf. The lobbying team includes Kelly Bingel, a former chief of staff to Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), and Elise Finley Pickering, a former chief of staff to Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.).
•TRANSPORTATION. Former Rep. William Lipinski (D-Ill.) is lobbying for the Association of American Railroads. Lipinski, a former member of the House Transportation Committee, is also lobbying for Chicago-based United Airlines.
