Ex-Sen. Blanche Lincoln opening her own K Street firm

Former Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) is leaving Alston & Bird to start her own K Street firm.

The ex-Democratic senator announced in an email on Monday that she plans to launch the Lincoln Policy Group with Robert Holifield, a former staffer during her Senate days who will also be leaving Alston & Bird.

{mosads}Lincoln and Holifield joined Alston following her retirement from the Senate in 2011, becoming a part of a lobbying team of former lawmakers that included ex-Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R-Kan.) and former Reps. Billy Tauzin (R-La.) and Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.).

Holifield, who was Lincoln’s former staff director for the Senate Agriculture Committee, sent an email on Friday to an Arkansas newspaper announcing the duo’s new venture.

“This coming Monday I will be starting a new endeavor with my mentor, friend, and now business partner Senator Blanche Lincoln,” Holifield wrote. “We are starting Lincoln Policy Group and we will be working with several of the clients we’ve developed over the last two years.”

Federal lobbying documents list Lincoln and Holifield on the accounts of Wal-Mart, Nokia, ConocoPhillips, Experian, the National Retail Federation and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America during their time at Alston & Bird.

The firm earned about $13.7 million in lobbying revenues last year, according to federal documents.
