•APPROPRIATIONS: Jason Roe, a former chief of staff to Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.), has registered to lobby for federal funding for Roy’s Club, a membership club that provides discounts on various items and services. Roe, who works for Federal Strategy Group, is the only lobbyist listed in the registration form filed with the Senate Office of Public Records.
•AVIATION: Stefan Bailey, a former legislative director for Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.), is among the lobbyists listed by BKSH and Associates to lobby for Virgin America Airlines. According to a filing with the Senate, the group will lobby on legislative issues stemming from the creation of Virgin’s new airline. Charles Black, Scott R. Pastrick and Becky Weber are among the other lobbyists listed.
{mosads}•ENERGY: The Carbon Offset Providers Coalition, a trade group for developers and sellers of carbon offset credits, has hired the environmental law firm Beveridge & Diamond PC to work on climate-change legislation. According to a filing with the Senate, the firm will do outreach to committees and federal agencies on the inclusion of carbon offset trading in legislation. Lobbyists listed include David M. Williamson, Nicholas W. van Aelstyn and K. Russell LaMotte.
•HOMELAND SECURITY: Former D.C. Mayor Sharon Pratt has registered to lobby for the State Capitals Organized to Protect America (SCOPA). The group has applied for grants under a program operated by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a registration form filed with the Senate.
•INDIAN AFFAIRS: Holland & Knight has registered to lobby for a Native American advocacy organization, the Association of American Indian Affairs. The registration form filed with the Senate lists Telly Meier and Kathleen M. Nilles as the lobbyists who will work on tax laws related to tribal government-funded and -controlled charitable organizations.
The Cherokee Nation has hired the Podesta Group to lobby on various issues in Washington. Lobbyists listed on the Senate registration form include John Scofield, a former GOP communications director for the House Appropriations Committee; Paul Brathwaite, executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus; and Walter Pryor, a former legislative director to Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.).
