•APPROPRIATIONS. Metcalf Federal Relations is lobbying for the National Physical Science Consortium. The consortium awards doctoral fellowships to students studying physical science or engineering.
•ENVIRONMENT. Rinker Materials Corp., of West Palm Beach, Fla., has hired Dawson & Associates to lobby on wetlands permit issues.
•GAMING. The Interactive Gaming Council, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has hired Barnes & Thornburg to lobby on gaming issues. Edward Ayoob, a former aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), is lobbying against the prohibition on Internet gaming, according to Senate lobbying records.
•IMMIGRATION. The Farmers Investment Company hired Van Scoyoc Associates to lobby on immigration “and related border-security issues,” according to Senate lobbying records. Kevin Kelly, Sarah Schultz Kyle, Jasper Thomson and Stewart Van Scoyoc are listed on the registration as lobbyists working on behalf of the company.
•INDIAN TRIBES. Drinker Biddle & Reath is lobbying for the American Housing Initiative Program, an agency of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe that provides housing to tribal members. Paul Moorehead, former staff director to the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, is now at Drinker Biddle and is leading the effort.
•LOCAL GOVERNMENT. Pascagoula, Miss., has hired Robert Maxwell & Associates to secure economic development money for the city, according to Senate lobbying records.
•MANUFACTURING. Alcalde & Fay is lobbying on behalf of American Pacific, which manufactures fire prevention equipment.
•PHARMACEUTICALS. Barbour Griffith & Rogers is lobbying for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals on issues related to Medicare Part D, according to lobbying records. BGR lobbyists Mary Lacy Reuther, former special assistant to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mark McClellan; Shalla Ross, a former policy director on the House Republican Conference Committee; Jennifer Larkin Lukawski; and Robert Wood are working with the drug company.
•TAXES. Netjets, an aviation company, hired Miller & Chevalier to lobby on tax issues related to the aviation industry, according to Senate lobbying records.
