The lobbying team includes Roger Szemraj, a former chief of staff to Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), Brent Gattis, Sally Donner, John Bode and Julian Baer.
•CONSUMER SAFETY. Mattel Inc., the embattled toy company, hired Johnson Madigan Peck Boland & Stewart to lobby on “issues relating to product recalls,” Senate lobbying records show.
•DEFENSE. L Capital Partners, a small-business investment company, has retained Gibson Dunn & Crutcher to lobby on defense appropriations.
•EDUCATION. Multiple Strategies, a lobbying firm founded by Democrat Julie Domenick, is lobbying for Teaching Strategies on bills related to Head State and No Child Left Behind, according to Senate lobbying records.
The American Association of Presidents of Independent Colleges & Universities, meanwhile, has retained Winston & Strawn. Charles Kinney, Douglas Richardson and Gene Schaerr are lobbying on “accreditation standards in higher education reauthorization legislation.”
•ENERGY. Dickstein Shapiro is lobbying for the Delmarva Power & Light Company on “all legislative issues related to the storage of spent nuclear fuels,” according to lobbying records.
•ENVIRONMENT. The Accord Group is lobbying for the Federal Signal Corp. on issues related to “federal storm water regulations and requirements,” according to Senate lobbying records. Catharine Ransom, a former staff aide to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, and Jeffery More are lobbying for the company.
•FINANCE. The American Capitol Group is lobbying for the McGraw-Hill Companies on credit-rating issues, according to Senate lobbying records. Kate Childress and Nate Gatten of ACG are lobbying for McGraw-Hill.
•MEDIA. The Digital Media Association hired Sharon Ringley-Potter to lobby on Internet-radio issues.
•PHARMACEUTICALS. Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels is lobbying for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals on healthcare and tax issues, according to lobbying records.
