•DEFENSE. McBee Strategic Consulting is lobbying for Apen Aerogels, a company based in Northborough, Mass., that does work with nanotechnology.

Several lobbyists are listed on the registration, including Steve McBee, a former aide to Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Wash.); Robert Chamberlin, a former chief counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee; Holland Patterson, a former deputy White House liaison for the Defense Department; and Menda Fife, a former aide to Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.).

{mosads}•ENERGY. The environmental group Friends of the Earth has hired the Podesta Group to lobby on energy-related issues, according to Senate lobbying records.

Several lobbyists are listed on the registration, including: John Scofield, a former House Appropriations Committee spokesman; Andrew Kauders, a former adviser to Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.); and Daniele Baierlein, a former aide to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

•HEALTHCARE. The Sinai Health Center has signed Fabiani & Co. to
lobby on healthcare-related issues, Senate lobbying records show.

Tarplin Downs & Young, meanwhile, is lobbying for the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance on regulation and reimbursement issues, according to Senate lobbying records. Lobbyists Raissa Downs, Isaac Fordjour, Jennifer Young and Linda Tarplin are listed on the registration.

•LENDING. Holland & Knight is lobbying for the American Resort Development Association on the sub-prime lending issue. Jeffrey Stern of Holland & Knight is lobbying for the trade group, according to Senate lobbying records.

•LOCAL GOVERNMENT. The city of Kankakee, Ill., has hired Cornerstone Government Affairs to lobby on its behalf, according to Senate lobbying records.

•TRANSPORTATION. Hood Canal Sand & Gravel in Poulsbo, Wash., hired Van Scoyoc Associates to lobby on its behalf, Senate records show. Buzz Hefti, Brian Prenda and Stewart Van Scoyoc are lobbying for the transportation and building material company.

•TRIBES. The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchans hired Alston & Bird to lobby on tribal issues, according to Senate lobbying records.
