Trump to hold rally next week in Arizona

President Trump is scheduled to hold a rally next week in Arizona.

Trump has held a number of campaign-style rallies since his inauguration earlier this year. 

Earlier this month, he held an event in West Virginia as he sought to fire up supporters as his administration struggled to advance his agenda.

{mosads}The announcement of the Arizona rally comes as Trump faces controversy over his response to the violent clashes this past weekend at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. 

On Tuesday, the president held a defiant press conference in which he said there is “blame on both sides” for the violence that erupted at the rally, including the death of one woman when a man with alleged ties to racist groups plowed his car into a crowd of counterprotesters.

“What about the alt-left that came charging at the — as you say, the alt-right?” Trump asked during a Tuesday news conference.

“Do they have any semblance of guilt? What about the fact they came charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs? Do they have any problem? I think they do. As far as I am concerned, that was a horrible, horrible day.”

He has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle.

The rally also comes after Trump told Fox News earlier this month he is “seriously considering” a pardon for Joe Arpaio, the controversial former sheriff of Maricopa County, Ariz.

Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt last month after he was ordered to stop racially profiling Latinos in his Maricopa County office. 

“I am seriously considering a pardon for Sheriff Arpaio,” Trump told Fox News.

“He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration. He’s a great American patriot, and I hate to see what has happened to him.”

The rally will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Phoenix Convention Center, according to a news release.
