• AGRICULTURE. Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld is lobbying for QAI, which certifies whether food is organic, on issues relating to the National Organic Program, lobbying records show. David Carlin, an assistant secretary for congressional relations at the United States Department of Agriculture during the Clinton administration, is lobbying for QAI.

• ENERGY. The American Petroleum Institute hired Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti to lobby on energy drilling proposals, tax issues and chemical security legislation. The lobbying team includes Jamie Brown, a former special assistant for legislative affairs to President Bush; Kelly Bingel, former chief of staff to Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.); and David Castagnetti, former chief of staff to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.).

{mosads}• FINANCIAL SERVICES. The Glover Park Group is lobbying for the Intercontinental Exchange on issues relating to the regulation of futures markets. Glover Parkís Susan Brophy, former chief of staff to Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.), and Joy Drucker, former aide to then-House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.), are lobbying for the commodities exchange.

• HEALTHCARE. The Myositis Association hired American Defense International to lobby on the Medicare Modernization Act.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation hired Gustafson Associates to lobby on ‘policy and funding related to womenís health,’ Senate lobbying records show.

• INDIAN TRIBES. The Las Vegas Paiute Tribe hired Capitol Management to lobby on tribal trust land issues, according to Senate lobbying records.

• REAL ESTATE. Williams and Williams, a real estate auction company, hired BKSH & Associates to lobby on federal real estate issues, Senate lobbying records showed.

• SCHOOLS. The Ferguson Group is lobbying for Firstfloor K-12 Solutions, a commercial real estate firm in Raleigh, N.C. Debra Bryant, Matthew Ward, William Ferguson and Bob Schmidt are lobbying for the company on energy tax issues.

• TELEVISION. Azteca America, which owns low-power television stations, hired Johnson, Madigan, Peck, Boland & Stewart to lobby on the conversion from analog to digital television, Senate lobbying records show.
