• APPROPRIATIONS. Hogan & Hartson is lobbying for funding for a radiation center on behalf of Providence Hospital.
The City of Minneapolis has hired Patton Boggs to lobby on “municipal policy and funding priorities” in several different areas, including health, housing, homeland security and transportation, according to federal lobbying records.
{mosads}• DEFENSE. The PMA Group is lobbying for Albany State University on the House and Senate defense appropriations and authorization bills for fiscal 2010.
• ENERGY. USEC Inc., a supplier of enriched uranium, has hired BlueWater Strategies to lobby on a “uranium enrichment facility.” Andrew Lundquist, a former director of the White House’s national energy policy development group, and Eric Washburn, once a senior policy adviser to former Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), are working on the account.
• FINANCIAL SERVICES. Winston & Strawn is lobbying on the Treasury Department’s illiquidity asset financial markets rescue plan, or the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, on behalf of Allstate Insurance Company. James Miller, a senior Treasury Department official for then-President George H.W. Bush, and Eric Silva, once a legislative aide to Sen. Jim Jeffords (I-Vt.), are listed on the registration.
Ford Motor Company has hired King & Spalding to lobby on an “industrial loan company application.” Former Sen. Connie Mack (R-Fla.) will be lobbying for Ford, according to the registration.
• FOREIGN AFFAIRS. The Association of Women of South Ossetia for Democracy and Human Rights has hired Mark Saylor Company to communicate “concerns of Ossetian people regarding the Georgian attack and its aftermath.”
• NATIVE AMERICAN. The Poarch Creek Indians have hired Sonny Callahan and Associates to work on “education, health and Indian issues.”
• TRADE. Samsung Electronics America has hired Gateway Consulting to lobby on the pending Korea-U.S. free trade agreement as well as “issues involving the U.S.-Korea bilateral relationship,” according to federal lobbying records.
• TRANSPORTATION. Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Enderson & Perry is lobbying for the reauthorization of the transportation bill, known as TEA-LU, on behalf of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians.
