Davis joins Deloitte

Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) has accepted a position as federal government services director at Deloitte, a consulting firm.

{mosads}Davis will advise Deloitte’s clients on the “major trends, opportunities and challenges facing the federal government, with a focus on technology innovation and government transformation,” Deloitte said in a statement.

Davis is a former chairman of the House Government Reform Committee and is retiring from Congress as the panel’s ranking member. He has a reputation as a centrist who was willing to reach across the aisle and was viewed as a “top get” downtown even though Democrats control Congress and, soon, the White House.

Representing an area with a large number of software companies, Davis earned a reputation as an expert on technology during his years on Capitol Hill. He was co-chairman of the Information Technology Working Group in Congress, and he wrote several bills designed to promote technology to improve the efficiency and lower the costs of federal government operations.
