• APPROPRIATIONS. GSP Consulting Group is lobbying for Minnesota Wire, a wire and cable manufacturing company. The firm is seeking federal appropriations for its client.

{mosads}• AUTOMOBILES. K&L Gates is lobbying for Tesla Motors, an electric car maker. The company is seeking a loan from the Energy Department. Scott Aliferis, a former legislative director to Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), is one of four lobbyists working on behalf of Tesla.

• FINANCE. The Smith-Free Group is lobbying for the Financial Services Roundtable (FSB). Andrew Barbour, a former Democratic congressional aide and FSB lobbyist, is once again representing the trade group, which represents financial-services companies, as a contract  lobbyist.

• HEALTHCARE. Williams & Jensen is lobbying for the Coalition of Air Medical Companies on issues relating to federal safety regulations, Senate lobbying records show.

• MANUFACTURING. National Semiconductor hired Strategic Counsel to lobby on renewable energy and energy efficiency efforts.

• MINING. Denny Miller Associates is lobbying for Coeur d’Alene Mines, a silver and gold mine.

• SHIPPING. The United Maritime Group hired Breaux Lott Leadership Group to track “vessel traffic issues,” Senate lobbying records show.

• TRADE. Wiley Rein is lobbying for Maverick Tube Corp., which makes steel products. The firm is lobbying for “trade relief” in response to alleged dumping by Chinese companies in the U.S. steel markets.
