Co-oping a lobbyist
{mosads}Brian Cavey, a former acting chief of staff to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), is joining the lobbying team at NRECA after Chuck Penry departed for Tyson Foods earlier this summer.
Cavey, who came to Washington from Montana, most recently was at the Stanton Park Group, where he represented Comptel, Delphi, Motorola and Microsoft.
In tapping Cavey, NRECA gets a lobbyist who has contacts in the office that has jurisdiction over emissions allowances, a permit that allows companies to pollute.
Spokesman Patrick Lavigne said the group plans to lobby the Senate to add a “price collar” to the bill to prevent energy costs from skyrocketing, as well as a less aggressive timetable for emissions reductions.
