• ENERGY.  McBee Strategic Consulting has been hired by Rentech Inc., a synthetic fuel developer, to monitor energy issues. Jeff Markey, former deputy chief of staff to Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), and Robert Chamberlin, former chief counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee, are lobbying for the company.

• FINANCIAL SERVICES. The McGraw Hill Companies has hired the Raben Group to lobby on the financial services reform bill. Robert Raben, a former aide to Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), and Mark Glaze, a former aide to then-Rep. David Skaggs (D-Wash.), are lobbying for McGraw Hill, which is the parent company for Standard & Poors, a credit ratings agency.

• HEALTHCARE. Lanny J. Davis & Associates has been hired by Martek Biosciences Corp. to lobby on “issues related to essential nutrients for infants and pre-natal babies,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Lanny Davis, once special counsel to President Clinton and a contributor to The Hill, is lobbying for the company.

Quinn Gillespie & Associates has been hired by the Norwalk Community Health Center to lobby on a “community health center service area overlap issue,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Bonnie Hogue Duffy, a former legislative aide to Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), is lobbying for the center.

• TAX. Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is lobbying for Simon Property Group Inc. on a competition review of real estate transactions and the Internet sales tax. Makan Delrahim, former counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Alfred Mottur, former senior communications counsel for the Senate Commerce Committee, are lobbying for the company.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association has hired Public Strategies Washington to lobby on “interchange fee reform,” according to lobbying disclosure records.

• TRANSPORTATION. GE Healthcare has hired Hogan Lovells to lobby on language concerning “aeronautical mobile telemetry operations” in the Federal Aviation Administration’s reauthorization bill, according to lobbying disclosure records.
