• DEFENSE. The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences has hired Cassidy & Associates Inc. to lobby on “defense and military health issues,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Rebecca Middleton, a former aide to Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.), and Tanya Morrison, a former aide to ex-Rep. Max Burns (R-Ga.), are lobbying for the school.

• ENERGY. Watts Partners has been hired by LLOG/Deep Gulf Energy, a Houston-based oil drilling and extraction company, to do “energy-related lobbying,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Rep. J.C. Watts (R-Okla.) is lobbying for the company.

• FINANCIAL SERVICES. Genworth Financial Inc., a mortgage insurance provider, has hired Clark Lytle & Geduldig to lobby on the Wall Street reform law, including regulations of predatory lending and securitization of mortgages. Sam Geduldig, former senior adviser to then-House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), and former Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio) are lobbying for the company.

• NATIVE AMERICAN. Patton Boggs has been hired by the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon to lobby on “issues related to amendments to the Indian Reorganization Act and/or the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Sarah Vilms, a former aide to Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), is lobbying for the group.

• TAX. DLA Piper has been hired by the Affordable House Tax Credit Coalition to lobby on the “low-income housing tax credit,” according to lobbying disclosure records. James Miller, former deputy assistant secretary for tax policy at the Treasury Department, is lobbying for the coalition.

• TECHNOLOGY. Allied Telesis Inc., a San Jose, Calif., tech company, has hired Prime Policy Group to lobby on “health IT, government research and procurement, and national security,” according to lobbying disclosure records.

• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. News Corp. has hired Quinn Gillespie & Associates to lobby on “retransmission consent,” according to lobbying disclosure records. John Feehery — former press secretary to ex-House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and a contributor to The Hill’s Pundits Blog — is lobbying for the media company.
