Virent Energy Systems Inc., a Madison, Wis.-based biofuels company, has hired McBee Strategic Consulting to lobby on issues related to biofuels legislation, regulations, policy and procurement. Steve McBee, a former legislative aide to Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Wash.), and Jeff Markey, a former deputy chief of staff to Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), are lobbying for the company.
• FINANCIAL SERVICES. Clark Lytle & Geduldig has been hired by the Federal Home Loan Bank of
Dallas to “provide guidance and counsel with regard to GSE, mortgage lending, housing and financial services legislation and regulatory issues,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Sam Geduldig, a former senior adviser to then-House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), and former Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio), who is affiliated with the firm, are lobbying for the company.
• HEALTHCARE. Blue Shield of
California has hired the Podesta Group to lobby on “legislation and regulations affecting health plans,” according to lobbying disclosure records. David Marin, former staff director for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee under former Chairman Tom Davis (R-Va.), and Stephen Northrup, former health policy adviser to Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), are lobbying for the company.
PhRMA Inc. has hired the Duberstein Group to lobby on funding for the Food and Drug Administration, generic drugs, patents and healthcare reform implementation, among other issues. Kenneth Duberstein, a former chief of staff in the Reagan White House, and Brian Griffin, a former senior leadership adviser to ex-Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.), are lobbying for the trade group.
• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Motorola Mobility Inc. has hired Elmendorf Ryan to lobby on “issues related to privacy, broadband deployment, copyright protection, spectrum policy, cyber-security and Net Neutrality,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Steven Elmendorf, a former aide to House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt (Mo.), and Kristina Kennedy, former legislative director to ex-Sen. Paul Sarbanes (D-Md.), are lobbying for the company.
