•EDUCATION. The Carmen Group has been hired by the United Federation of Teachers to lobby on charter school funding. John Ladd, former chief counsel to the House Judiciary Constitution subcommittee, is lobbying for the group.
{mosads}•HEALTHCARE. MedImmune has hired Wheat Government Relations to lobby on “healthcare issues,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Rep. Alan Wheat (D-Mo.) is lobbying for the company.
•HOUSING. Witt Group Holdings has been hired by Unity Asset Management to “assist in development of certain real [estate] properties in Miami, Fla., and other urban areas,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Bob Nash, once a senior Clinton White House aide, and Edward Fry, former chief of staff to ex-Rep. Vic Snyder (D-Ark.), are lobbying for the company.
•TAX. The National Beer Wholesalers Association has hired Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti Inc. to lobby on “alcohol regulation; HR 1161, the Care (Community Alcohol Regulatory Effectiveness) Act of 2011. Excise tax; LIFO; estate tax reform; swipe fee reform,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Cynthia Brown, former chief of staff to Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.), and Kelly Bingel, former chief of staff to ex-Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), are lobbying for the trade group.
•TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge has been hired by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association to lobby on “satellite and cable compulsory license reform,” according to lobbying disclosure records.
•TRANSPORTATION. M-1 Rail has hired Patton Boggs to lobby on “issues related to Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process and other aspects of transit line project development,” according to lobbying disclosure records.
