• ENERGY. BMW of North America has hired Cassidy & Associates Inc. to lobby on “Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards (CAFE) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission standards; electric and clean fuel vehicle legislation and automotive safety,” according to lobbying disclosure records.

• HEALTHCARE. Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti Inc. has been hired by the American Society for Radiation Oncology to lobby on “Medicare reimbursement for physicians, patient safety, quality improvement” and “Medicare fraud,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Dean Rosen, former health policy director for ex-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), and Kelly Bingel, once chief of staff to ex-Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), are lobbying for the trade group.

{mosads} Podesta Group Inc. has been hired by the Association of Medical Colleges to lobby on “Medicare funding for graduate medical education,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Stephen Northrup, former health policy director for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, is lobbying for the trade group.

• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. The Association of Public Television Stations has hired The O Team to lobby on “spectrum fees” and “spectrum incentive auction,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Bob Okun, former assistant to ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), is lobbying for the trade group.

 Bingham McCutchen has been hired by American Broadband and Telecommunications, an Ohio-based communication service provider, to lobby on “regulatory issues related to Lifeline Forbearance petition,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Gary Gallant, once chief of staff to ex-Rep. Jim Saxton (R-N.J.), is lobbying for the company.

 LightSquared Inc. has hired K&L Gates to “provide assistance with public policy issues relating to extending broadband access to rural America,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Rep. James Walsh (R-N.Y.) and Amy Carnevale, former chief of staff to ex-Rep. George Nethercutt (R-Wash.), are lobbying for the company.

• TRANSPORTATION. Holland & Knight has been hired by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to lobby on “extension of SAFETEA-LU and gas tax; FY 2012 Transportation-HUD Appropriations Bill,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Laurie Hettinger, once staff director to ex-Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio), is lobbying for the agency.
