Under contract

• The Postal Regulatory Commission hired headhunting firm The McCormick Group for its executive search services, costing $45,000, according to contract documents. The commission is looking for a new general counsel, a position set to become vacant in January. The position comes with a salary of approximately $180,000. The Postal Regulatory Commission hopes to make an offer by March.

• The State Department awarded a $30,305 contact to Cobra Canine, a specialized dog training company, for six dogs trained to root out narcotics. The price includes transportation to Guatemala, where they will work within the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement in Guatemala City and donated to the Guatemalan government. Dogs — preferably Belgian Malinois, but also German Shepherds or Labradors — must be within one year and 28 months of age, well socialized and not afraid of loud noises.

{mosads}• The U.S. Embassy in Singapore, via the State Department, paid about $583,000 to host more than 250 guests at the Shangri-la Hotel in Singapore this summer during a visit by Vice President Biden, according to recently released documents. In July, Biden spent two days in the country, which required “unique requirements for communications support,” and high-level security constraints, including the need to change itineraries frequently or at the “last minute.”

• NASA is adding on to an existing contract, worth a maximum of $97.2 million over five years, to support the Kennedy Space Center.  The Millennium Engineering and Integration Company will help to support “ground systems and space flight systems planning and design; project management and integration,” among other responsibilities. Avatar Technologies, Booz Allen Hamilton and North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University are among the subcontractors.

• The U.S. Army is contracting with Central Texas College, a community college near Fort Hood military base, to provide soldiers with “educational programs and services that enhance personal growth, professional development and readiness.” The college has a campus on the base and offers 8-week terms throughout the year, according to its website. The contract, worth $7.5 million, is for a three-year period.
