Under contract

• The Architect of the Capitol is hiring a consulting firm to assess the conditions of many federal buildings in Washington, including the Senate and House office buildings, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Capitol and Capitol Visitor Center, the Library of Congress and the U.S. Botanic Garden buildings. Faithful+Gould will earn up to $5 million to review the facilities and propose upgrades. The international firm recently worked on managing the construction of World Trade Center Memorial in New York.
 
• The Defense Department is contracting with Raytheon Technical Services to provide missile launchers for the U.S. Navy and the government of Australia to equip the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G aircrafts. A majority of the $17.3 million contract — 66 percent — is dedicated to the weapons being sent to Australia.
 
{mosads}• The State Department awarded a nearly $9.1 million contract to Zerock Construction Mozambique to build a national public health reference laboratory in the southeastern African country. The project, according to documents, is part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and will help Mozambique move forward in protecting public health, including having the ability to identify and combat disease outbreaks. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is overseeing the project at the American Embassy in Maputo, Mozambique.
 
• The Air Force is working with government contracting firm KS International to provide “base operating support, base life support, and security services” at Joint Base Balad in Iraq, according to a release about the award. The contract is worth $623.3 million and lasts until 2017. In 2011, the Air Force turned the large base, located in the northern part of the country, back to Iraqi control.
 
• The Defense Logistics Agency awarded AMI Industries Inc., doing business as Goodrich Interiors Specialty Seating, an $8.8 million contract to install “aircraft ejection seats” through August 2016.
