• CONSUMER ISSUES. Assemble LLC, doing business in Brooklyn, N.Y., as United We Ball, has hired Endgame Strategies to lobby on “issues relating to enforcement actions and scope of authority of the Consumer Products Safety Commission,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Steven Duffield, former policy director and chief counsel for the Senate Republican Conference, is lobbying for the company.
{mosads}• ENERGY. A number of oil refiners have joined forces to lobby on crude oil exports. Consumers and Refiners United for Domestic Energy has signed Peck Madigan Jones to lobby on the issue, with refiners wanting to uphold the ban on most U.S. crude oil exports. Jeff Peck, former staff director for the Senate Judiciary Committee; Jonathon Jones, once chief of staff for Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.); and Peter Madigan, ex-chief of staff to former U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick, are some of the lobbyists on the account. Monroe Energy, PBF Energy Inc., Alon USA Energy Inc. and Philadelphia Energy Solutions help make up the coalition.
• GAMING. A former Patton Boggs lobbyist has brought several of his old clients to his new firm. Darryl Nirenberg, now at Steptoe & Johnson, will lobby for Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands Corporation on “Internet gaming issues.” Adelson has launched an all-out campaign to ban online gambling nationwide. Also on the account is Jason Abel, once chief counsel to the Senate Rules Committee. Other recently registered clients of Nirenberg at Steptoe include Peace Officers Research Association of California, True Science and Wetlands Management.
• TECHNOLOGY. Google has added two former Senate chiefs of staff to its lobbying roster. The Simmons & Russell Group will lobby for the Silicon Valley giant on “issues related to competition and technology.” Robert Russell, once top aide to Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), and Kyle Simmons, a former Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) chief of staff, make up the firm.
• TRADE. Williams and Jensen has been hired by New England Shirt Co. from Fall River, Mass., to lobby on “duties on cotton fabrics” and the “Cotton Trust Fund.” David Starr is on the account.
