Under Contract

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a $23.84 million contract to FHI 360 to implement the USAID Career Development Activity in Morocco. The four-year contract will entail setting up career development centers and work readiness training for university and vocational school students and recent graduates in order to promote “employability of young Moroccans.” FHI 360 is a “human development” nonprofit organization and will be charged with working with USAID staff, the Moroccan government and private-sector partners.

USAID also awarded six contracts worth a maximum of $375 million for a separate initiative. The work will be a global effort and part of the YouthPower Project. FHI 360, Creative Associates International, DAI, RTI International, Global Communities and Banyan Global each won a contract and are guaranteed at least $25,000 each. The awards are the first phase of a two-part effort focusing on the implementation of “sustainable youth programs.”

Fire Quick Products is the only manufacturer of the products used by the agency, according to contract documents, and purchasing other brands could lead to “compatibility and safety concerns.” The Forest Service purchased nearly $485,000 worth of flares and cartridges for five “National Incident Support Caches.”

• The Department of Education awarded a $30,000 Nathalie Guiragossian, operator of Firedrill Studio, to create infographics for the department’s website and social media pages. The contractor must produce “quick turn-around, daily or weekly infographic projects that will be able to deliver emotional power, and get the audience to understand data and information in an easily digestible and clear form,” according to federal contract documents. “The infographics shall offer compelling data and unique designs that leave an impression and magnify the information delivered through social media platforms. The infographic shall help the audience learn something and/or challenge them to think
about the information in a new way.”
