Under Contract
• The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) won an “indefinite-quantity contract” from the Air Force worth up to $3.06 billion to operate the Lincoln Laboratory Federally Funded Research and Development Center. The contract includes work that will “apply advanced technology to problems of national security.” The work is expected to be complete by the end of March 2020.
• The Department of the Navy awarded a $482,000 contract for the “renovation of eye care hospital for veterans in Odessa, Ukraine.” ACE LLC, located in Kiev, Ukraine, won the contract. No further details are available in the contract award database.
{mosads}• World of Powersports Inc. is providing four Black Mamba dirt bikes — and training — for a dozen Air Force personnel. The bikes must come with a 250cc engine and be able to have a “lockable weapons mount” that can hold an M4 rifle on either the front or back of the motorcycle. The contract, issued by the Air Force’s Air Combat Command, is worth about $44,389.
• The Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate awarded a $291,830 contract to Thomas D. Morris Inc., a commercial breeder of cows, goats and pigs in Baltimore County, Md. The lab operated by the DHS “seeks to develop rapid and effective countermeasures to combat the introduction of high consequence animal disease agents into the United States. Developing these countermeasures requires live animal testing.”
• The Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $39.5 million contract to Manson Construction, based in Seattle, to build new walls to “reduce water velocity at the convergence of the inner coastal waterway and the St. John’s River” in Jacksonville, Fla. “Work also includes demolition of Coast Guard structure foundations and coordinating with the Coast Guard to allow its crews to remove and reinstall three aid-to-navigation structures.” All of the work will be completed by late August 2016.
