Under Contract
• The U.S. Agency for International Development awarded a $14.9 million contract to Chemonics International Inc. to assist the agency with a project to help curb greenhouse gas emissions in South Africa and help the country’s government ‘”expand low emissions development, or ‘green growth’ in South Africa.” Chemonics, according to contract documents, will be providing advisory services, such as planning, analysis and project development. South Africa is the largest emitter of greenhouse gasses in Africa and the 11th largest in the world.
• The Pentagon inked a $31,240 contract with Fox Valley Technical College to provide training for U.S. Marine Corps prosecutors and trial counsel. The course outlined in the contract will “increase effective representation when managing allegations of child pornography and child sexual assault/abuse,” according to documents. The training will take place at the headquarters of the nonprofit group National Center for Missing and Exploited Children between May 6 and May 10.
• Noetic Corporation, a consulting and professional services firm in Washington, D.C., won two contracts from the Defense Department worth a total of about $2.45 million. There are not many details about the awards, but one involves a program to “empower Warfighters and first responders to take control of their stress reaction,” and the other consists of technical services to “assist the Government in developing the proposed ‘Looking Beyond ISIL.’ ”
• Comprehensive Health Services Inc. (CHSi), won a five-year, $4.25 million contract “to provide medical modeling and simulation training” for an Air Force program. The company will be a subcontractor to Engineering & Computer Simulations as it works on the Air Force Medical Modeling and Simulation Training, which develops “advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for health care teams and patients for the purpose of improving health care outcomes.” CHSi will act as a consultant to Air Force personnel on bases in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan.
