• Crowell & Moring hired Joseph Miller, a former general counsel of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), as a partner in its antitrust and healthcare groups. Prior to AHIP, he worked within the Justice Department’s antitrust division.
• Former Visa executive Sarah Dumont-Merchak will be joining TwinLogic Strategies in January. She spent eight years at the company, serving as a vice president of global government relations. She has other K Street and Capitol Hill experience, including working at lobby firm Smith-Free Group and on the Senate Banking Committee.
{mosads}• Issue management firm Cavalry LLC added Amanda Henneberg as its chief operating officer. Prior to that, she worked as the corporate communications director for tech startup Instacart. Henneberg has also worked for Wal-Mart, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and the Republican National Committee.
• American Council of Life Insurers promoted three staffers in its federal relations department, including Maurice Perkins, who will now lead the group’s advocacy effort with the U.S. government. Alane Dent has become the vice president and deputy of federal relations, and Pete Bautz has been named as the senior vice president of taxes and retirement security.
• Dave Grimaldi will head up the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Washington office as its new executive vice president of public policy. He will start in January after serving as the director of public affairs for Pandora. Grimaldi’s experience includes senior roles at the Federal Communications Commission, the office of Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), and the Raben Group.
• The Russell Group promoted Andrew Harker, a more than eight-year veteran of the firm, to vice president. Prior to that, he worked for the House Agriculture Committee under former Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.).
• The Economic Innovation Group, which was established earlier this year, has hired four new staffers. Amanda Byrd has been named as the manager for public affairs. She previously worked at Spectrum and 463 Communications. Kenan Fikri joins as manager for research and policy development, coming from the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program. Jessica Guzik, a National Journal alum, will serve as the group’s manager for strategic partnerships and events. Former Treasury Department official Elizabeth Hipple will become manager for government affairs.
