Under Contract

The U.S. Department of the Navy awarded a $20.8 million contract to Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., in Alexandria, Va., to help ensure that the United States’s nuclear weapons arsenal is secure. Many of the tasks — including providing “independent reviews, recommendations and solutions for external nuclear weapon surety policies” and inspections, among other things — require top government security clearances.

The Department of the Interior’s National Park Service is contracting with Stephen R. Braund & Associates (SRB&A), an archeological firm based in Anchorage, Alaska, to complete a Phase I archeological identification study at the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve in Port Alsworth, Alaska. The contract is worth $34,945. The STB&A team will see if there are any “archeological resources” in the area and then “describe their characteristics, potential scientific value, and threats to their integrity and condition.”

The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded a $319,995 contract to Katherine Lily Taylor Lynch in San Francisco to aid in the creation of a cellphone app that can help with “mental health treatment,” according to documents. The contract calls for a “clinical research psychologist” to work on the app, which will be able to be used by “veterans and civilians who have experienced trauma and/or have PTSD.” “The contractor will be responsible for creation [and design] of original content for these applications … creation of basic technical specification documents, communication with VA stakeholders, iterative testing process, and creation of supporting materials used to disseminate the resulting applications.”
