Under Contract

• The General Services Administration has awarded a $6.9 million contract to Bayside Contractors to design and build a new hangar and administrative office at the Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, that will be used by the Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Air and Marine. The company claims to be “the most experienced operator of unmanned aircraft systems in the Homeland Security mission set on the world stage.” The 136,000-square-foot project should be completed within 24 months. 

• The Department of Education is contracting with Norvel Wood, the owner of Washington DC Tours and Transportation, to provide shuttle services for employees from its headquarters to and from eight other offices in the Washington area. The four-year contract is worth a total of nearly $3.2 million. In the solicitation documents, the Department of Education says it “has a requirement” to provide the service. 

{mosads}• The Department of Agriculture has awarded three companies with regional contracts worth about $438,400 to conduct audits of the government’s Federal Milk Marketing Orders Program. The Agricultural Marketing Service aims to guarantee dairy producers a “reasonable minimum price for milk throughout the year,” while still preserving supply to consumers, despite fluctuations in the market. The audits of eight offices across the nation will ensure that the agency is complying with all regulations and laws, in addition to checking whether the agency is being the most efficient it can be. 

• The Navy has awarded a $14.4 million contract to Homeland Contracting Corp., a small business based in Virginia, to build a new medical clinic at the Camp Lejeune military base in Jacksonville, N.C. It will replace the Berkeley Manor Building, which is set to be demolished, according to the Defense Department. The project should be completed by April 2015 and will include the building itself — which provides medical services, including pediatrics, dermatology and traumatic brain injury care — and the outside landscaping, sidewalks, parking facilities and other improvements.
