• The American Association for Cancer Research named Mitchell R.
Stoller the executive director of its Foundation for the Prevention and
Cure of Cancer. He has spent three decades in the nonprofit sector at
organizations such as the Nicholas Sparks Foundation, Safe Kids
Worldwide, the Marrow Foundation (Be the Match), the Christopher Reeve
Paralysis Foundation and the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Alliance.

• Freedom to Marry has hired Juan Barajas to serve as its development director, managing the organization’s campaign to “raise millions of dollars to be strategically channeled into public education, state campaigns, and federal work.” He has experience the nonprofit sector and with funds management for 15 years, recently serving as the director of philanthropy at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and deputy director of development at GLAAD. 

{mosads}• Anne Marie Turner has been hired by McDermott Will & Emery to work as a partner in its government strategies practice in Washington. She comes from the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, where she served as senior counsel. She has also worked for former Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) while he served as chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

• The Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness (ABHW) has named Rebecca Murow Klein, a legislative assistant to former Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), as its associate director of government affairs. Before working in Nelson’s office, she served as the deputy communications director and director of chapter operations for the National Jewish Democratic Council.

• Steven F. Reich joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as a partner in the firm’s white-collar defense practice. Prior to that, he served as the Department of Justice’s associate deputy attorney general, advising Attorney General Eric Holder and Deputy Attorney General James Cole. Reich came to the DOJ from the private sector, having left Manatt Phelps & Phillips’s white-collar investigations team. Earlier in his career, Reich served as senior counsel to former President Clinton and worked for former Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) and the minority members of the House Judiciary Committee.
