Under Contract

• The Pentagon is buying lapel pins for the Vietnam War Commemoration, but contract documents don’t make it clear how many. Kennedy Incorporated won a $157,000 contract to produce the pins, which the Vietnam War Commemoration’s website shows are round and feature a bald eagle with the words “Vietnam War Veteran” around the border. “A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You,” the back reads. Anyone who served in any branch of the military between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, is eligible to receive one. Congress established the commemoration program, which also includes events for veterans, in a 2008 defense spending bill.

• Skeo Solutions, an environmental consulting firm in Virginia, has been awarded an $85,000 contract to work with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on carrying out its Greening America’s Communities program in Oklahoma City. The program helps “communities develop an innovative and implementable vision of distinctive environmentally friendly neighborhood that incorporates innovative green infrastructure systems,” according to the EPA. It’s not clear from the contract award what the contractor will be doing for the agency.

{mosads}• A Bureau of Land Management office in Nevada is paying Charter Communications $50,000 to run wildfire prevention public service announcements on television, according to recent contract award disclosures. 

• The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is soliciting two studies in India, awarding two contracts worth a total of nearly $83,000, regarding energy investment. The USTDA works to increase exports of U.S. goods and services abroad, while also helping the economies of developing and “middle-income” countries. Continuum Associates won a $46,200 contract to look at clean and renewable energy — including solar, hydropower and wind power — in India, while Constant Group won a $36,750 contract to analyze the market for “traditional energy,” such as the oil and gas industry. Each contractor is tasked with, among other things, coming up with four recommendations for “technical assistance or pilot projects” in the energy sector in India that the USTDA could fund.
