Under Contract
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded an $18 million contract to Management Systems International Inc. to help support a program to “reduce corruption and increase the accountability and transparency of governance in Ukraine.” That includes ensuring that “key government institutions [are] empowered to fight corruption … public support for and engagement in anti-corruption efforts [is] increased … [and] public tolerance of corrupt practices [is] reduced.”
There is a sea turtle sanctuary and nesting ground on the beach within the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina, and the Pentagon awarded a $77,000 contract to Onvoi LLC to conduct an aerial survey of the beach to spot and record the locations of “turtle nesting events,” including areas where turtles have crawled onto the beach to lay eggs and actual nests of eggs. The contract stipulates that drones will not be allowed, and an actual pilot and/or crew must conduct the survey from the plane. The sanctuaries are important because sea turtles will only lay eggs on the exact beach on which they were born.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is creating a new special exhibit called “Americans and the Nazi Threat: What Did Boston Know,” set to be mounted in the museum’s large first-floor gallery. It’s part of the museum’s 25-year anniversary and focuses on a group known as the Christian Front that hosted Nazis in Boston. Solomon Group Entertainment of New Orleans won the initial contract — covering the design phase only — worth up to $34,375. Additional money will likely be supplied for “hardware purchase and installation,” documents on the General Services Administration website say.
Cheng & Tsui Company Inc., a woman-owned small business in Boston, has been awarded a 10-year, $2 million contract from the Pentagon to develop a curriculum for Japanese language Advanced Placement (AP) courses for Defense Department schools worldwide. The company has done other Japanese and Chinese language curricula for the schools, the Defense Department said.
