• The National Retail Federation will be bringing on Stephanie Martz as senior vice president and general counsel to succeed Mallory Duncan. Duncan announced his retirement last week but will stay on until the end of August. Martz begins in September. Martz is coming from public affairs firm Monument Policy Group, and has also served as special assistant and senior counsel to former President Obama. She’s also an alumna of Sen. Charles Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) office, having served as his chief counsel. 

• Evan Bergwall is returning to Capitol Hill after more than five years in the private sector, according to the congressional tracking website Legistorm. Bergwall founded Bergwall & Associates in 2013, according to his LinkedIn, and started signing lobbying clients in 2015. He lobbied on behalf of Tara Unlimited and OG Inc., which are marijuana dispensaries in Seattle and Denver, respectively. Bergwall is now going to be a legislative assistant to Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) and has previously worked for former Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and the House Rules Committee.

{mosads}• The Alliance for Regenerative Medicine is bringing on Janet Lynch Lambert to serve as the industry group’s first chief executive officer. Prior to that, she held senior roles at the National Institutes of Health. Lambert has also served as a lobbyist for Life Technologies and Invitrogen, two biotechnology companies, and led the Washington-based business development effort for General Electric’s Corporate Research and Development Center.

• Former Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.) is joining King & Spalding as a senior adviser in its government advocacy and public policy practice. He served in Congress from 2002 to 2010, including on the House Ways and Means Committee and House Armed Services Committee. After being defeated in a Senate bid, then-President Obama appointed Meek as special representative to the United Nations.

• Dentons has named Eric Tanenblatt as the chairman of its public policy practice and the leader of its global public policy and relation practice. He has been with the firm since 2000, originally at the firm McKenna Long & Aldridge, which merged with Dentons in 2015.
