Under Contract

• The Library of Congress is contracting with Spaeth Design in a deal worth $384,500 to build out an exhibit called Baseball Americana in the library’s Thomas Jefferson Building. The unveiling is set to happen alongside the 2018 MLB All-Star Game held in Washington. The exhibit “will highlight the Library’s extensive baseball collections, showing baseball’s gritty roots and its contemporary character through original artifacts and interactive media.” Spaeth Design, a company in New York, is best known for creating elaborate scenes in New York City department store windows.

• Westendorf Electric won a $16,200 contract from the General Services Administration to “install [a] white noise system” for a Social Security Administration office in Huron, S.D.

{mosads}• Federal Highway Administration awarded a $158,429 contract to AllGreen Landscape Company to renovate Lafayette Square, the area with grass, trees and brick walkways directly north of the White House. The project, which can’t start until April 16, involves installing new sod grass and “resetting and replacing brick sidewalk pavers,” among other tasks.

• Defense Security Cooperation Agency has organized a conference for the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies, which is being held at the Capitol Skyline Hotel in downtown Washington from March 2 until March 17. The Pentagon awarded an $86,924 contract to the hotel for guest rooms and conference rooms for the event. It also handed out a $50,910 contract to SIS Global Solutions to “provide interpretation/translation services” during the conference. “The contract requires expert language interpretation, interpretation equipment, on-site support and translation service into and from the following languages: Arabic, French, and Russian.”

• The National Park Service is paying $166,800 to “refurbish bronze doors” at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial in Ohio, which was “established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the War of 1812, and to celebrate the long-lasting peace among Great Britain, Canada and the U.S.,” its website says. “The Memorial, a Doric column, rising 352 feet over Lake Erie is situated [five] miles from the longest undefended border in the world.” Milestone Management Group won the contract.
