Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck has been hired by DaVita Inc., a dialysis service provider, to lobby on “sustaining and expanding business with the federal government and the Department of Veterans Affairs,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Al Mottur, former senior communications counsel for the Senate Commerce Committee, and R. James Nicholson, former Veterans Affairs secretary, are lobbying for the company.
• TAX. The United States Telecom Association has hired Capitol Counsel to lobby on “legislation related to general tax issues and dividends,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Rep. Jim McCrery (R-La.) and Dena Battle, ex-legislative director for Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, are lobbying for the trade group.
Cassidy & Associates has been hired by Bayer MaterialScience to lobby on the “energy research and development tax credit,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Dawn Levy, former tax counsel to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, is lobbying for the company.
• TELECOMMUNICATIONS. AT&T has hired Capitol Hill Strategies to lobby on the “proposed acquisition of T-Mobile,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Chuck Brain, a former senior Clinton White House aide and chief of staff to the House Ways and Means Committee, and A.J. Wojciak, once a senior legislative assistant to ex-Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.), are lobbying for the telecom company.
• TRADE. The Caribbean Basin Ethanol Producer Association has hired Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg to lobby for a “trade preference for ethanol produced in the Caribbean,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Nicole Bivens Collinson, an assistant textile negotiator for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and David Andrew Olson, a former staff director and senior counsel for the Senate Homeland and Governmental Affairs Committee, are lobbying for the trade group.
